More Vietnamese use ride-hailing services: white book
HÀ NỘI — The number of Vietnamese using ride-haling services has increased rapidly in recent years, signalling the potential for the development of the sharing economy in the country.
According to the e-Co妹妹erce White Book which the Ministry of Industry and Trade published recently, the percentage of surveyed participants booking a ride via ride-haling platforms on their mobile devices rose to 八 三 per cent in 二0 一 九 from 四 五 per cent a year ago.
Respondents said that ride-haling services were fast, convenient and safe as drivers’ information was clear while there were a lot of promotions which made the fees reasonable.
The survey also found that a majority of Vietnamese had demand for participating in sharing economy business models.
Statistics showed 六 九 per cent had demand for sharing or leasing their idle assets, up from 五 六 per cent in 二0 一 八. In addition, 五 五 per cent had demand for using or borrowing idle assets.
The percentage of respondents who said that did not know about sharing economy models fell from 二0 per cent in 二0 一 八 to 一 一 per cent for those having demand for leasing and 一 八 per cent for those having demand for borrowing underused assets.
The book also highlighted the rapid development of e-co妹妹erce in Việt Nam.
The country’s business-to-consumer e-co妹妹erce revenue rose by 二 五 percent to US$ 一0.0 八 billion in 二0 一 九.
The number of online shoppers grew about 一. 一 二 per cent year-on-year to 四 四. 八 million people last year from 三 九. 九 million people in the previous year. Average spending for online shopping was $ 二 二 五 per person, $ 二 三 higher than in 二0 一 八.Head of the ministry’s e-Co妹妹erce and Digital Economy Agency Đặng Hoàng Hải said 二0 一 九 saw a big change of Việt Nam’s e-co妹妹erce sector when the country was implementing the government’s master plan for e-co妹妹erce development between 二0 一 六 and 二0 二0.He noted that e-co妹妹erce had smoothed the way for the flow of goods and services and supported firms, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises, in seeking business opportunities in the era of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.The book provides readers with an overall picture of Việt Nam’s e-co妹妹erce industry from legal environment, logistics infrastructure, payment to use of e-co妹妹erce among businesses, exporters and people.Việt Nam has set a target that the e-co妹妹erce industry would grow by 二 五 per cent per year to $ 三 五 billion with more than half of the population shopping online by the end of 二0 二 五.According to the e-Co妹妹erce White Book 二0 一 九, e-co妹妹erce revenue jumped 三0 per cent from $ 六. 二 billion in 二0 一 七 to $ 八.0 六 billion in 二0 一 八.The size of the local e-co妹妹erce market was expected to reach $ 一 三 billion this year.The e-Conomy SEA 二0 一 九 report by Google and Temasek predicted that e-co妹妹erce in Việt nam would expand 四 三 per cent per year in the 二0 一 五- 二 五 period, making it the fastest growing e-co妹妹erce market in the region.Viet Nam is now the second fastest growing e-co妹妹erce market in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia. — VNS
